In business, sport and life… are you a player or a spectator?

This week I’ve had the privilege of meeting a number of entrepreneurs who recently made, or are in the process of making, the transition from salaried life to starting their own business.

They remind me that the decision to become a player rather than a spectator in the game of life is tough. You face fear, rejection, doubt and ridicule every day. But, ultimately, each of their stories of change is a story of growth and personal transformation. Each is inspiring because stepping outside of your comfort zone is often the hardest decision you’ll ever make.

What does it mean to be a lifestyle entrepreneur?

I believe that life is an adventure and the biggest adventure we can take is to live life on our own terms. Sounds easy but we all grow up within the confines of the Cubicle. That’s the system that has us studying for tests so we can get good grades to enter good jobs to buy cars we don’t need, to impress people we don’t care about. It’s a system that keeps us comfortably numb from the raw thrill of existence. Being a lifestyle entrepreneur means taking a stand against the Cubicle. Being a lifestyle entrepreneur means choosing the uncomfortable path because without fear you can’t have joy, without failure you can’t have growth.
